ISN Releases Third Edition of the U.S. and Canada Health & Safety Performance Indicator Reports

ISN Team - 14 Dec 2015

ISN has released its latest series of annual reports on Health & Safety Performance Indicators for both the U.S. and Canada. The reports are based on 2014 data aggregated from more than eight billion U.S. work hours and over two billion Canadian work hours of contractor activity. The three part publication series provides contractor health and safety related key performance indicator (KPI) statistics for hiring organizations. In these industry-specific reports, more than 250 U.S. hiring organizations across 11 industries and over 70 Canadian hiring organizations across six industries have been included.

The U.S. Contractor Performance Benchmarking by Hiring Client report is available in two industry-specific volumes: Oil & Gas, Utilities & Power Generation and Manufacturing, Mining, Chemicals & Facilities Management. The KPIs presented in the reports include the total recordable incident rate (TRIR), days away, restricted or job transfer rate (DART), lost time case rate (LTC), fatality rate, incident severity (in days) and experience modifier. This information is an important component in helping hiring organizations understand how their contractors’ health and safety performance measures compared to that of their industry peers.

“The ISN benchmarking reports have been an important value-added resource for our subscribers over the past years,” said Dag Yemenu, ISN Vice President of Technical & Customer Services. “The insight provided in these comprehensive reports helps hiring organizations to develop evidence-based strategies that promote safety in the workplace.”

Also included in the series is the Canada Contractor Performance Benchmarking by Hiring Client publication. The data is reported for the upstream (onshore) oil & gas, midstream (pipeline) oil & gas, downstream (refining) oil & gas, chemical, manufacturing, mining and fertilizer products, and utilities, transmission, distribution and power generation industries. The KPIs featured within this publication include total recordable frequency (TRF), lost time frequency (LTF), fatality rate and incident severity (in days).

“Performance data is a significant factor in operational assessments and hiring decisions,” said Joseph Eastin, ISN President & CEO. “Our publications offer analytics and a unique insight that help companies make better decisions and recognize areas of improvement to mitigate risk and a potential loss.”
